this morning, i bought a new pair of shoes. nice design, but not very comfortable. they were biting hard at my feet; i wore them to Bugis. one of the dress i bought at LMG yesterday was fraying, so sad. that was my favourite. very sweet pink dress, pretty jap too (at least my colleague KS agreed with me). that was the last piece, so i had to top up another $2 in exchange for two tops. i was so scared i cannot exchange or asked for a refund, because the receipt said "goods once sold are not exchangeable or refundable"… i’m so thankful i managed to get the dress replaced. phew!

this afternoon while i was on my way to Bugis to meet KS, something weird happened. i was listening to radio using my SE phone, then suddenly without any warning, i was talking to KS. that was an incoming call… i was just telling him of the meeting place & the line got cut off abruptly soon after i finished. following that, another call came in & before i could do anything, i heard a voice on the line. i thought that was KS but didn’t quite sound like him. that turned out to be another friend of mine, W. so weird, he wasn’t even on my recent call list, & i definitely didn’t dial out, especially since the phone was keylocked. i don’t know how on earth this call came about?!?!? i checked my phone in disbelief!

do other SE phones give the same problem??? i wonder…

P1040066 my new shoes!

P1040081 my new hp pouch! saw this at the edge, thought it was pretty, finally i’ve found something i like to replace the old one which was giving me problems. quite jap too hor? hee…

Safe in a Crazy World

Track 2: Save Me

I drift, I burn, I fly
When you sing lullabies
I’m helpless, I’m yearning
I’m like the putty in your hands

I laugh, I dream, I cry
When you take me on a roller coaster ride
You see me through and through
You see just who i am
Just take my hand and

Save me from this place
Heaven knows I’m falling
For you, my sweet embrace
Heaven Knows
Heaven knows I’ve been waiting for you

I had a dream that i
was falling from the sky
At 90 miles an hour
I was bound to crash and die
But out of nowhere you came and rescued me
There must be some grace in the touch of your face
I’m so happy that I’ve found you
I’m no longer afraid

Oh ‘ cause you
Save me from this place
Heaven knows i’m falling
For you my sweet embrace
Heaven knows
Heaven knows I’ve been waiting

Before i met you
Life was slow-mo
So slow-mo
I thought i had it figured out
But you came and turned my whole world upside down

Save me from this place
Heaven knows I’m falling
For you, my sweet embrace
Heaven knows
Heaven knows you’ve come to

Save me from this place
Heaven knows I’m falling
For you, my sweet embrace
Heaven Knows
Heaven knows I’ve been waiting for you
Waiting for you

it’s a rainy day, luckily i was spared of heavy downpour when i went out in the afternoon. met my butterfly pal, CP for a cup of tea at Bugis. we went to Terra, i had an iced honey-lime green tea, not too bad. after a chat, i went in search for two gift items. my dear students from LEO Club are going to hand over their duties soon, to the new committee. i have these two girls who have been working with me quite closely this while, & i thought i should give them something as a form of appreciation. well, i was pretty lucky today, without much efforts, i managed to buy two cute beanies which are paper holders. hope they will like it.

CP left soon after, for his photoshoot at Sheares Bridge, so i went shopping alone. in the end, i bought a few pieces of clothes, workwear & casual & also a bag. oh no, i’m gonna eat grass for the next few weeks! don’t know why but i seem to have a way with sales assistants. there was once when i went lee wah, the lady was so kind enough to help me paint my nails (i was looking at nail colours), helped me remove the colors, specially opened a new bottle & diluted the polish for me to try & gave me a free gift. not that i was a big spender, but i was quite chatty that day. hee, it pays to be more friendly. today at Double Index, the three sales assistants offered to help me pack my stuff together. i was carrying a few smaller bags… then when i bought a bag at Little Match Girl & found the strap a little too long, the salesgirl went to Domanchi & asked to help me punch an additional hole in the strap. i feel so pampered! keke… anyway, hope the clothes will be ironed in time for new release next week for my birthday! lolx

btw, there was a kitten today that kept pacing up and down the corridor outside my home. for almost an hour, it was trying to sneak in. i took a pic of it before my camera battery runs flat, thought it was pretty cute, like the anne geddes pics. haha… see for yourself!

Kitty

am suffering from a headache now, been there since i returned home just now. it was made worse but all that sewing. i was trying to add some stitches to my clothes and sew a press stud on one of the blouse. my mom used to be the one who does the alteration because she’s a good seamstress, but i decided to take over since she hasn’t been in the pink of health recently. she said it was a job well done, that is the best compliment i can ever get! hehe, so happy. what a sense of satisfaction. :P

Safe in a Crazy World

Track 1: Little Superhero Girl

I feel like a little girl
Trying to conquer the whole wide world
Everybody wants a piece of me
And i just dont know where to turn
I’ve got work piled up to my head
All i want to do is jump into bed
And wash away my troubles with lemonade
Play hide and seek with the boy next door
Take a trip to Singapore and
Imagine how i’ll make the world a better place

All I need is a good disguise
One where nobody can recognise
That I’m feeling so small
All i need is a small weapon
I’ve gotta have faith
Zapping monsters into outer space

I’m gonna be a superhero

Na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na
Yeah

If I were a little girl
Trying to clean up the whole wide world
I’d kick the bad boys back to school
Teach them fighting’s just not cool
I’d give every kid a teddy bear
Turn starving people into millionaires
Break glass ceilings with dynamite
sprinkle a little sugar and spice
Turn the bullies that terrorize
into pink poodles that bark,
But don’t bite

All i need is a good disguise
One where nobody can recognise
That I’m feeling so small
All i need is a secret weapon
I’ve gotta have faith
Zapping monsters into outer space
I’m gonna be a superhero

Na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na
Yeah

Little Superhero Girl
Little Superhero Girl
Save Me

Little Superhero Girl
Little Superhero Girl
Save me from myself

I feel like a little girl
Trying to conquer the whole wide world

time: 1.15 am, 30th July… just had a good shower 15 minutes ago. though feeling refreshed, but pretty sleepy. my thursday’s blog is missing, why? because once again, i visited dreamland early, at 10 pm. haha… i wonder if it’s age that’s catching up, or life’s simply too hectic these days. anyway, nothing very interesting in school that day, except to see my students getting so excited seeing smiley face stickers on their assignments. haha… they acted like primary school kids who are badly deprived of extrinsic motivations. so i asked them what kinds of stickers they like, i listed the few i’ve got, doraemon, hello kitty, little twin stars, pooh & friends, the incredibles & more. guess what was their favourite? sponge bob square pants! omg, i thought only my sister (primary 6) & her friends will like those characters. lolx…another worth to mention thing that happened on thursday was that i met my primary school classmate at the market opposite TJC. haven’t met him for quite some time, maybe a year or two? he looked so much like his brother (my uni chemistry classmate) that i called the wrong name! aiyo… malu leh… :P

today (fri) i went shopping in the evening with my colleague, KS. was supposed to learn blading from a friend but due to some unforeseen circumstances, it was cancelled. maybe it’s not meant to be? anyway, it was a fruitful shopping trip, i bought three tops all at discounted prices. i managed to find for my sister a very sweet "anne geddes" autograph book. i also bought two corrinne may CDs!!! i have decided to collect her albums. her music is good, & i really like her voice. fyi, she’s a singaporean singer composer. *thumbs up* felt quite guilty buying two albums at one time, but i thought these will be my birthday presents for myself, so i felt a little less remorseful. lolx! KS also got himself a few good bargains, this is really a good shopping day! hmm… i think i shall not spend anymore until the next payday, else gotta eat grass everyday liao. :’(

just finished watching superstar not long ago, i think i like junyang best, then derrick and also kelvin. the show was pretty enjoyable, the (male) judges are so cute & they made me laugh so much. really envy these people with such good voice & how nice if my future partner can sing like that too. i won’t mind listening to his ‘music’ everyday! btw, guess wat time i slept yesterday??? 9.15 pm! unbelievable right? i also thought so! lolx. i was actually marking some papers, after finishing one class, i told my mom i’m going to catch a 15-min nap. but when she tried to woke me up saying i had unfinished work, i told her, not urgent la, let me sleep… & so i slept all the way till 5.45 am this morning! keke. finally i’ve finished marking the assignment, except for a few late ones coming in.

today was a mad day in school. i always dread wednesday, especially if i have CCA on that day. i had four tutorial periods, one civics period and also a meeting today. luckily no staff conference & CCA! phew! in between classes, time was so tight that i ended up eating nissin cup noodles. i don’t eat that often so it’s ok… it was quite a nice change from the canteen food. :D

life’s been so busy lately with all the marking and things to do urgently at hand. i am just done with the marking & more is coming in! on top of that, i have to prepare enrichment question (due end July), prepare challenging olympiad questions for my lecture topic by friday, to present on Monday (gotta stay back till 6.30 pm earliest), remedial package due very soon, revamp of teaching material due end of term 3… how to keep sane? next wk is all packed from monday to thursday evenings. even the day of my birthday wasn’t spared. arghh… there’s a LEO investiture going on, big shots coming, how to give it a miss? i’m still thinking if i should go though i have no kind of celebrations at all. maybe just a quiet dinner with my family, like usual, no cake, no special celebrations, only that the day is special in my heart because i will only be 25 once! getting old liao, cannot deny it. haiz…

today after work, i did a quick shopping. i’ve been crazy about fruits these days, so at one shot, i bought $12 worth of fruits! plum, papaya, melon, jackfruit and nectarine. my mom says i’m siao. haha… actually the more siao thing is i took some pics of those fruits! but i’m not gonna show u. :P lolx ok, i think it’s time for me to get back to work now, last but not least, congrats to my friend, mg, on his first blog published. welcome to the world of blogging! i told you i will mention you, see i keep my promise?? thanks for being an ardent fan of my blog. keke. keep in touch pal, see u & ur gf at the badminton game soon. ;) added on: mg is smart, mg is clever, mg is the best! HAHAHA. mg, happy or not? :P

another cold rainy day, the staff room was like a freezer. i’m so thankful i survived the day at last, i had two triple periods today, one after another with only a 45-min lunch break in between. my second class was supposed to be 3 pm in the afternoon, but my students requested to bring it forward to 1.35 since their PW lesson was cancelled.  i thought of going home early today, but seeing the stacks of papers i’ve to mark, i stayed for an hour plus just to get rid of some load. well, i went home still with unmarked papers, gonna have another round of marking after this blog. arghhh… kids these days simply refuse to drop Chemistry, no matter how badly they fare. thanks to the life sciences, Chemistry has become a favourite. but well, my colleagues and i were wondering how many of our students would really go into this field next time. now, the student intake has become so huge that marking of exam papers can really kill.

yeah, i just found three other colleagues to share cab with me to school the next time there’s another morning downpour. two of the three new colleagues happen to stay just adjacent block to mine, the furthest being a street away! cool, i think even with cab booking fee, we won’t spend more than $2 each. hee… on usual days, i walk to school. takes about 20+ minutes to stroll there. i love the morning breeze & fresh air! it’s a good exercise too! :D

it’s monday once again, but i’m not suffering from monday blues. i usually don’t because monday is my shortest day in the whole week. my last lesson ends at 12.50pm. my flu has gone away & i’m feeling pretty good & lucky today. for the first time, two of my boys offered to help me carry my stuff. i thought that was quite a pleasant act which was quite common during my time but not now. anyway, the load was manageable and so i spared them from being my coolie. haha… anyway, i’m back home now. just had my lunch & i’m off to marking again. tata!

nice weather today, if only my cycling trip was not cancelled. maybe i’m glad it was called off…i am down with a sore throat and a runny nose. haven’t been able to do any marking since morning. today is the birthday of goddess of mercy, who is my fairy godmother. i went with my 4th aunt to the temple at Tembeling Road (near Telok Kurau). the travelling distance from home was short but the waiting time was long. on the return trip, we waited for almost 45 minutes for the bus & when it finally came, there were two of them. the journey was quite rewarding, it brought back memories of my secondary school days before DHS moved to Tanjong Rhu. i used to take bus number 33 to school. on the way to my destination, i saw roads name after fruits, like ‘Chiku Road’ & ‘Rambutan Road’. so cute right? i didn’t know there is a road named after my favourite fruit - chiku! keke

the temple was very crowded, the coffee shops nearby were all packed with people. however, i was relieved that the temple itself wasn’t as packed as the one at Bugis. i managed to walk around with much ease though i was pretty disturbed why some parents allow their young children of 4 or 5 years old to walk around with the joss sticks ‘poking’ their way through. it’s a danger to others and themselves too. each visit to a crowded temple is really a BIG challenge, once i almost suffered from a blister because burning ashes had dropped onto my arm. ouch!

i bought a lotus as an offering, seeing it reminded me of how the young kids in Surin nimbly folded the flower petals. then as usual, i made a small donation and took some sweets home. there was a stall selling crystals and CDs, i was so tempted to buy one of the CDs which contained my favourite buddhist chants in it. somehow i seem to have misplaced it or lost it during my stay at PGP. in case you’re wondering, i’m not a staunch follower. i just love the music and chant because they have a very calming effect on me.

now, time for my dinner. bye! :D

23rd July 2005

back to my alma mater today! i brought my sister to DHS’s open house you see… it feels good being there again, it’s like walking down the memory lane. it feels just like yesterday that i was there, but i have graduated for almost 9 years now. i saw my chemistry teacher, Ms Tan. she still looks quite the same, in fact, most TJC tutors who have been there since i was a student look like they never age! maybe teaching the youth is not such a bad thing after all, it keeps us young! i told Ms Tan that i’m currently a Chemistry teacher & that she has inspired me much. she looked happy. keke… in the school hall, i also saw another teacher who used to be my lower secondary form teacher i think, but i can’t really remember her name. quite hard to believe, but she actually said that she found me familiar. teachers have good memory ey? and coincidentally, this teacher was actually my TJC senior and Miss Rita Wong’s student! what a small world. lolx.

i walked around with my sister and her friends and took some pics of the school compound. my sister seems to be quite keen on going to DHS & I seriously would support her decision if not for the dunman high programme and also the temporary reloaction of the school to Buona Vista from 2007 to 2008. there will be some upgrading works on the current site, for e.g. a stadium will be built. well, i guess we will leave till she gets her PSLE results then decide on the next move.

by the time we left, it was already 1 plus in the afternoon. we had been there for nearly 3 hours. i brought the girls to board bus 158 from just outside the school, thinking that it will bring us to Kallang MRT station like before. but obviously the bus route has changed, & we ended up at Aljunied MRT station instead. the three of us went to Tampines, because my sister wanted to buy an autograph book, while i need to collect my repaired food processor from Best Denki. i thought the trip down was pretty much fruitful. the first thing we arrived, we visited a bazaar just next to the train station. we managed to buy nice stickers and wrapping papers as cheap as 10 cents each! the 3 of us simply went crazy choosing the designs we want. we were spoilt for choices.

anyway, today is a ’sinful’ day again, the ’sinful’ items were cup corn, ‘chao nian gao’ (there was a food fair at TM) & bubble tea! when i reached home, there was more. i had fried bee hoon for dinner and also glutinous rice balls. the latter is my all-time favourite! i’m looking forward to mid-autumn festival when the wet market sells those dough which makes good glutinous rice balls. on normal days, the best we can get are those usual kind from the supermarkets…i find the texture not as good.

-the end-

check out these pics i took today. ;)

think the casuarina tree at the centre is the one supposedly planted by my batch of students.

Gift the ‘zhong ting’ presented by my graduating batch to the school. as the name suggested, that is a bell (the old kind where u need to ring it manually) mounted at the pavillion. the school has relocated the pavilion, i remember it was somewhere else. think it was to make way for the hostel.
